15/16 x 13/16 inch satin finish sterling silver St. Jude medal on a 24 inch stainless steel rhodium plated chain. The medal pendant features a raised image of Saint Jude with a flame around his head, holding his club and a book that represents his Epistle. In the background there are sunbursts. Engraved on the pendant are the words "Saint Jude Thaddeus Pray For Us". The back of the medal is blank with a brushed finish but can be engraved with the message of your choice. Saint Jude Thaddeus was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. He is often depicted in icons with a flame around his head, which represents his presence at the Pentecost, when he received the Holy Spirit with the other apostles. He is also shown holding an image of Jesus Christ, known as the Image of Edessa, which was a holy relic of cloth upon which a miraculous image of Jesus' face was imprinted. Known for preaching the gospel in particularly difficult circumstances, he is the Patron Saint of Hopeless Causes and Desperation.
