The pendant features a gold colored decorative filigree border with a silver satin finish oval in the center depicting the figure of Mary. On the back of the medal in a brushed finish is the letter M, representing Mary, surmounted by a cross representing the sacrifice of Jesus, and surrounded by twelve stars that represent the twelve apostles.
